Director: John Bliss

John Bliss is a homeschool father of four. He holds degrees in composition and conducting from San Jose State University and California State University, Fresno. Mr. Bliss has won composition contests sponsored by National Federation of Music Clubs and The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. He also received the first-ever Stephen G. Wozniak Award for computer music innovation, the National Catholic Bandmasters Association Award and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. Mr. Bliss served for 21 years as staff arranger for the US Air Force Band in Washington, DC. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists and institutions from Joshua Bell to Kool And The Gang.

Rehearsal Information

Welcome to the 2021-22 season of the Northern Virginia Home School Symphonic Winds. We typically rehearse every Wednesday from 3:30-5:00 PM and conclude each semester with a free public concert.
